Aptitudes are a custom system that you won't find on any other shard. The Aptitudes are class specific and are designed to amplify and enhance your experience with those skills.
Single left click your character and click on advanced to bring up the aptitude menu.
You have a maximum of 1000 points to distribute in any aptitudes you want that are assigned to a specific class. For the MISC category you can distribute 500 points in any combination to the aptitudes in that category. As you progress through a specific class of Aptitude’s, you’ll notice that certain Aptitudes require prerequisites.
