Salt peter is obtained from mining in dungeons or while on a boat. The chance for you to pull up a salt peter deposit is dependent on how much luck you currently have. Your chance to pull up a salt peter deposit is determined from the first swing of your pickaxe or shovel. If you don't pull up a deposit on that swing you can move on to the next vein.
